Kitchen Remodeling That Starts Behind the Cabinets

Marshaqualey remodels kitchens for homeowners across Riverside, California. Much of our work is in older houses: bungalows in the Wood Streets, Spanish revival homes around Mount Rubidoux, and the ranch houses built after the war in Arlington, La Sierra and Magnolia Center. Those houses share something you cannot see from the kitchen doorway. A lot of them still have original galvanized steel water lines somewhere between the meter and the sink.

That shapes how we work. A kitchen remodel is the one time the sink wall is open anyway, and it is the obvious moment to find out what is in it. We would rather spend a morning looking at the pipe before you choose cabinets than hand you a change order halfway through the job.

How a Job Usually Goes

• We look before we quote the full remodel. The sink base comes out, or a small access is cut, and we photograph the supply lines, the drain and the joints between old and new material.
• You get the findings in writing. What the pipe is, what shape it is in, and the realistic options, including leaving it alone if it has already been replaced.
• Rough work is inspected with the walls open. Plumbing and electrical go in, the City of Riverside inspects, and only then do walls close and cabinets go up.
• Finish work goes in once. Counters are templated on installed cabinets, and the sink and faucet connect to new shutoff valves, not tired ones.

What We Will Not Do

We will not tell you a repipe is urgent when it is not, and we will not invent a sense of emergency to move a job forward. Galvanized pipe fails slowly. You have time to plan. We also will not recommend moving a sink across the room when keeping it on the same wall gets you most of what you want for much less money.
